Americans Would Rather Travel Than Pay High Costs

Affordable, quality care apparently trumps the commitment to travel. Approximately 50 million uninsured Americans are choosing medical tourism rather than pay for medical care in the US.

Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

The word 'arthr-' means joint and the word 'scopy' means viewing, making knee arthroscopy a procedure to view the knee joint. During this procedure, a small camera is inserted through a thin wire into the knee joint. This is inserted through small incisions made in the knee. Upon viewing the knee joint, the surgeon makes repairs to the damaged portions of the knee.

This surgery is performed under anesthesia. This is most often an outpatient surgery and the patients can go home the same day. Patients are given medications for pain after surgery and rehabilitation exercises are recommended. The recovery after the surgery depends on the extent of repair done in the joint.
