More Spas than Cities

Thailand has over 700 operating spas! In 2009, the Intelligent Spa Benchmarking Report found that the country hosts the largest number of spas in the region.

Shoulder Arthroscopy

Shoulder problems can be diagnosed through tools like x-ray, MRI, or CT scan. When these fail to diagnose the problems, the doctor needs to look into the joint directly, which is called arthroscopy.

During shoulder arthroscopy, the surgeon inserts a thin wire with a viewing instrument attached to it. If this is done under a local anesthetic, the patient might feel slight burning, stinging and pulling sensations and if general anesthetic is used, would be unconscious throughout the procedure.

Certain minor repairs like removal of bone deposits and scar tissue can be done during this procedure. This is performed as an outpatient procedure, which means the patient can go home the same day. Also, the recovery time is very short.
