Your Healthcare Holiday Dollars go Farther in Thailand

Medical costs in the West are skyrocketing and patients are flocking to Asia to save, particularly to Thailand where outlays for treatment are generally five to ten times less than what they’d be in the US and Europe.

Coronary Artery Stenting

A stent is a stainless steel tube that is used to support weakened or narrowed arteries. The process of placing a stent in a coronary artery is called coronary artery stenting.

In coronary artery disease, the arteries of the heart are clogged by plaque. In such cases, blood supply to the heart muscles or the myocardium is lowered. To open the artery and to keep it open, a stent may be placed. The procedure is also called percutaneous coronary intervention. Stents reduce chest pain and have been known to increase the survival rate in case of a heart attack. Stents may either be bare metal stents, drug eluting stents or covered stents. The stents are placed by angioplasty.
