Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth cap. It is primarily used to strengthen or hold a cracked tooth together, or used after a root canal.

The process is begun by taking an x-ray of the tooth and its surrounding area. The doctor first ensures that the tooth is infection-free. The tooth is then filed under anesthesia to receive a crown. An impression of the filed tooth is taken through putty or paste and sent to the lab for preparation of a customized crown.

Once the crown is available, it is cemented for permanent placement. Your newly crowned teeth might be sensitive after the surgery. Your dentist will prescribe appropriate medication and toothpaste for this.
