Spider Vein Removal (Sclerotherapy)

Spider vein removal or “Sclerotherapy” is a procedure used to treat blood vessels or blood vessel transformation and lymphatic system disorders. Spider vein or “varicose vein” results in enlarged veins, mainly on the legs. This condition can occur in other parts of the body as well. Severe cases of spider vein can cause swelling of the legs, extreme pain, skin thickening, ulceration and venous eczema. These problems can be treated by this non-invasive procedure.

Under sclerotherapy, a sclerosing solution is injected into the blood vessels to make them shrink. The results are immediately visible. This procedure can also be performed using “foam sclerosing drugs” under ultrasound guidance. Complications are rare but there is a risk of intense inflammatory reaction to the sclerosant. The procedure takes about ten minutes and patients recover very quickly.
