Korea Attracts Big 3 Medical Tourists

The three nations with the most Korea-bound medical tourists are China, the U.S., and Japan, according to industry data. Chinese medical tourists made up the largest share, with some 32,000 seeking treatment in Korea in 2012.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure involving penetration of the skin using an abrasive tip by a fast rotary device, that is usually hand-driven. This process helps in mechanical resurfacing of skin, that has been blemished by acne or surgical scars.

The abrasive tip is used to level the top layer of the skin. This is done by wounding or injuring the skin, causing bleeding. A new layer of skin then follows, that is healthier and scar-free. First, the area is cleaned and anesthetized. Ice packs are then applied for up to half-an-hour to firm up the skin. After skin has been treated, ointments and dressings are used to stop the blood flow, if any. Apart from scars, tattoos, wrinkles, rhinopyma or even cyst growth can be cured using dermabrasion.
