Botox Injections

Botox is a well known name for a type of botulinum toxin. When this toxin is injected into muscles in small amounts it doesn't poison but rather relaxes the muscle. When injected into facial muscles it prevents the formation of wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles.

It is the most common cosmetic procedure in the world. Botox injections can prevent the formation of wrinkles for up to three or four months and in some cases up to six months.

The toxin works by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that weakens the muscle. Botox injections may be administered by dermatologists, spa physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, physician assistants, etc. Botox injections are also used to treat other conditions such as spasms, migraine and squints.
