When performing Hatha Yoga, it is essential to start off gradually and not leap into any kind of poses which could lead to any serious physical injury. As a beginner, you must pace yourself and start off with just short work-outs, say around 10-15 minutes per session. That said, there could be slight tightness in your muscles at first, but if your stretches and poses are gentle, then any kind of pain will be minimal.
