Chelation Therapy

The word chelation means “to grab.” Chelation therapy involves injecting a synthetic solution called ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. This, upon entering the blood stream, grabs heavy metals like mercury, lead, iron, arsenic and copper, and removes them. These are eliminated through the kidneys.

Chelation therapy is mainly used to remedy lead poisoning. It is believed to have antioxidant properties and reduces pain in patients with arthritis and lupus. It is also believed that it can reduce LDL cholesterol deposit in the arteries and reduce the risk of arterial blockage and prevent heart attacks.

It is not recommended for pregnant women, children, and people with kidney and heart failure.
