Penang Adventist Hospital Introduction

Introduction:

Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) was established in 1924 by an American missionary doctor, Dr Earl Gardner, who dedicated his life to helping the poor and sick by providing the community with ‘Free Treatment’. Since then, PAH has evolved into a tertiary healthcare centre with up-to-date medical equipment, facilities and, more than 80 well-trained specialists in 24 specialisations serving the Malaysian community and medical tourists. 

PAH is a Malaysian owned and operated company. It is part of an International Adventist Network of some 600 not-for-profit hospitals, clinics and dispensaries worldwide. 

The 220-bedded hospital also runs an accredited Nursing Programme through its own Nursing College, Adventist College of Nursing & Health Sciences (ACNHS).

PAH is strategically located at 465, Jalan Burma, 10350 Penang. The hospital is easily accessible from the Penang International Airport, from the mainland via the Penang Bridge, or from the Ferry Terminal.

MSQH (4th Cycle, 2012 - 2015)
The Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working actively in participation with healthcare professionals to ensure safety and continuous quality improvement in providing healthcare facilities and services in the country.

BFHI (4th Cycle, 2011 - 2014)
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) was launched by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 1991, following the Innocenti Declaration of 1990. The initiative is a global effort implementing practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

HPH (1st Cycle, 2013 – 2017)
Penang Adventist Hospital has just become a member of the Health Promoting Hospital Network (HPH) - the very first hospital in Malaysia, as of January 2013. Initiated by World Health Organisation (WHO), the mission of HPH network is to improve the quality of health care of both hospital patients and staff through evidence-based health promotion services. As an accredited HPH hospital, PAH strives to achieve better health gain for our patients and staff with an integrated and compressive health promotion services.
