Koh Samui Medical Tourism

Medical Tourism in Koh Samui, Thailand

Flying into Koh Samui is an experience most visitors never forget. As you descend towards the island, all you can see is one big canvas of coconut trees. There are few more idyllic settings to enrich one’s health and wellness; you’ve just arrived at everyone’s image of an exotic, tropical island paradise, and you will realize how true this statement is the longer you stay.

Why Health Tourism in Koh Samui?

Koh Samui’s peaceful setting makes it a popular destination for mental and physical enrichment. The island is home to a number of excellent treatment facilities as well as wellness spas and health resorts. Cosmetic surgery is a popular procedure as well as advanced and extraordinarily reasonable dental services.

Thailand’s second most popular island destination, after its big brother Phuket on the opposite (Western) coast, is located in the Gulf of Thailand about 420 miles (720 km) south of Bangkok. It floats about 50 miles offshore from Surat Thani, with most visitors arriving by ferry. Bangkok Airways has regular flights there from seven cities, both in Thailand and abroad, and Thai Airways has a daily flight from Bangkok.

Getting There and Around

Koh Samui is not difficult to get to, whether by land, sea, or air. Many ferries make their rounds daily between Surat Thani and Chumporn on the mainland, to the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Tao. Koh Samui International Airport on the island is served mostly by Bangkok Airways, with a daily Thai Airways flight flying in and out in addition to Bangkok Airways’ many flights. There are also an airport and train station in Surat Thani, where people can arrive and then make there way to nearby ferries.  Once on Koh Samui, travelers may access the usual selection of Thai transport vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, bicycles, taxis and songthaews (converted pick-ups).
