Tokyo Medical Tourism

Medical Tourism in Tokyo, Japan

Japan has been a recent, but forceful addition in the list of medical tourism destinations. Being one of the very few developed Asian countries, it has a strong network of healthcare systems for its citizens as well as medical tourists.

Tokyo is the biggest metropolitan area in the world and is the busiest hub in Japan. The city’s pop culture manifests itself everywhere makes it a city unlike any other and offers a unique travel experience. If that along with the great food, luxury hotels and ancient shrines are not enough of a reason to visit Tokyo, there is now an added dimension of medical tourism to the city.

Hospitals and clinics here have doctors and physicians who are highly specialized in several medical treatments including cancer treatment (oncology) and regenerative medicine, which involves the repair and replacement of damaged or diseased tissues and organs. Japan enjoys the advantage of being easily accessible to countries in the Western hemisphere, and hence is a convenient medical tourism destination. There are a number of international medical clinics and hospitals that are very tourist friendly and offer high quality and specialized treatment options.

Why Health Tourism in Tokyo?

Tokyo is both the political and healthcare capital of Japan. The quality and range of medical services and facilities in Tokyo have contributed largely to the growing demand for medical tourism in the country.

The city has many hospitals, both public and private that offer excellent healthcare and wellness facilities. These facilities specialize in non-invasive procedures where highly qualified doctors with the help of cutting-edge technology are able to perform surgeries that have minimal impact on the body and require less time to heal as well.

Medical costs in the city are affordable due to government regulations and hence a good choice for expert, specialized and affordable treatments.

Many doctors and other medical professionals at these hospitals can speak fluent English and are highly skilled in their area of expertise. Popular medical treatments include cancer treatment (oncology), neurosurgery, cardiovascular treatment, psychiatric treatment, gynecology, pediatrics, oriental medicine, acupuncture, radiology, and orthopedics.
